Samaritans - Radar

Turning social nets into safety nets.

I read a story about a girl who posted 144 suicidal tweets over the course of six hours, before taking her life...and not one person reached out to her. Zero. This story stuck with me, so I did a bit of digging and discovered a lot of teens use Twitter to express their feelings of sadness before committing suicide. So I came up with Samaritans Radar - a digital tool that alerted you to potentially worrying tweets from friends. This free web app scanned your friends tweets for keywords and phrases such as "help me", "hate myself". And you decided if the tweet was a cry for help or not. If so, you were given tips on how to support your friend as well as the Samaritans phone number. This work saved lives.
